BABY RELATED BREASTFEEDING QUESTIONS

Here are some reasons why you may like to call a licensed lactation consultant when your baby does not feed at the breast with ease;

  • If the baby has not fed more than 6 times within the last 24 hours.
  • Baby is not transferring milk consistently (no audible swallowing, very sleepy to nurse,or nursing all the time, but is not gaining weight)
  • The baby is not back to his/her birth weight within two weeks after the delivery.
  • Insufficient wet or soiled diapers
  • Baby is fussy after each feeding or during the feedings and seems to be nursing “all the time”.
  • Sick or NICU babies
  • Baby who has to be supplemented
  • Known genetic or congenital problem
  • Starting solids
  • When and how to wean
